Dusk

     Some of these were some experimentation with tilt-shift (the first three.) Tilt-shift is where you actually remove the lens and tilt it a certain direction to bend the light entering the aperture. What this actually does is bend the focal plane. In a normal camera, the focal plane is completely perpendicular to your camera. However, as you can see in the photos, tilting the lens makes the focal plane bend in that same direction. The focal plane always stays perpendicular to the lens, thus when the lens is tilted from the camera, so is the focal field.  
     You can buy accessories that do this for you, and that is a much safer way of doing it, but it takes a heck of a lot of the fun out of it.

It was a nice warm spring morning for some post-rainy weather photos.

 I've begun to shoot increasingly in f/1.8. I've always shied away from using it extensively because 1) the DOF is so narrow it's hit-and-miss as far as getting the subject in focus, and 2) even when it is in focus you lose some sharpness. Yet, I can't help to enjoy its ability to really isolate your subject and produce some really nice effects. The bokeh on my 50mm 1.8 is not very desirable (only a 5-bladed aperture), but it also produces some nice vignetting at really high f-stops.

The Inhale before Spring

    Spring is most definitely my favorite time of year. Being the sort of person to not enjoy winter much, the season that beckons winter away is a season very welcomed.

       Something I always look forward to are the few weeks of spring-like weather while the trees and plants are still in their dormant state. The warm anticipation hangs heavy. It's almost confusing, but quite inspiring.
